Coaching The Micro Division (U6-U8): Why Whole-Part-Whole? – By John O’Sullivan
November 20, 2020
We keep making steps forward in November’s educational campaign about Coaching The Micro Division, and as you can see, we get closer and closer to the field.
We started this month by reviewing the basics, through the overall yet always fundamental need of understanding age group characteristics and the applications of the Rush Way philosophies. The Rush Way Micro Division Guide was the instrument we used to set these bases.
As we advance onto the end of this educational campaign, we’d like to get another step closer to coaching the session and share this article from world-renowned coach educator and former Rush Technical Director John O’Sullivan, in which he presents his reasons to support a Whole-Part-Whole coaching approach for grassroots over a more traditional simple to complex one.
As you read it, we invite you to self reflect on the reasons presented by the author and your own experiences.
Do they replicate the author’s?
What do you think are the pros and cons of a whole part whole approach in comparison to a more traditional simple to complex one?
